The 2002 Aurus has a hard job following the sensational 2001, coming across more conservative with delicate, white pepper-dashed, dark plum fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, slight chewy, grippy tannins with dense blackberry and licorice towards the conservative, but still pleasing finish. Drink 2013-2020.
Commencing with the Allende Blanc, I was impressed by how well this ages. Predominantly Viura with a higher percentage of Malvasia in older vintages, it develops a fine waxy texture and almost dried Barsac-like personality.
