The 2000 Aurus has a fine, eucalyptus-tinged bouquet with scents of kirsch and dark plum that are lively and well-defined. The palate is sensual and smooth on the opening. This is a more gregarious Aurus (thus far), with a corpulent, spicy, fleshy, meaty finish that is very satisfying. However, it is not quite as sophisticated as the 1999. Drink now-2020.
Commencing with the Allende Blanc, I was impressed by how well this ages. Predominantly Viura with a higher percentage of Malvasia in older vintages, it develops a fine waxy texture and almost dried Barsac-like personality.
