The 1999 Aurus has an attractive, mint-tinged bouquet with dark cherries, cranberry and dark plum aromas that are crisp and defined. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, Bordeaux-like tannins. There is a foursquare nature to the 1998, but at the same time it is well-balanced and focused with earthy dark plum and balsamic towards the finish. Classy. Drink now-2022.
Commencing with the Allende Blanc, I was impressed by how well this ages. Predominantly Viura with a higher percentage of Malvasia in older vintages, it develops a fine waxy texture and almost dried Barsac-like personality.
