The Gevrey-Chambertin-Lavaux St.-Jacques reveals a fabulous, opaque dark ruby/purple color. The nose offers up the essence of Pinot Noir in its bouquet of black fruits, minerals, flowers, and a woodsy, damp underbrush aroma. In the mouth, the subtle vanillin scent of new oak can be detected, but what one finds in abundance is an extraordinary, voluptuous, rich, super-concentrated wine with low acidity, gobs of fruit and glycerin, and a phenomenally long finish.
