The 2000 La Corte, the house’s best Sangiovese, is complex in its expression of red berry fruit, tar, and tobacco, long and intense in its flow over the palate, and with much grip and authority in the finish. The wine should be good for another decade.
Castello di Querceto is one of the higher estates in Chianti Classico, and the east-southeastern exposures of most of the vineyards do not always give maximum heat to the grapes. It is a tribute to the professionalism and hard work of owner Alessandro Francois, therefore, that the wines regularly show well.
