This vintage stands out in this vertical tasting and opens a new chapter. The vintages older than this all appear over the hill, but the Castello di Querceto 1990 La Corte still shows a beating pulse. The bouquet is subdued, and the wine is very silky with softly integrated tannins. What stands out are aromas of Indian spice, marigold, coriander and teak furniture. Indeed, it inspires all sorts of fun descriptors, although those more exotic tones have a short half-life and blow off quickly. This wine was fermented in steel and aged in French barrique for 12 months. Tuscany celebrated 1990 as one of its best vintages.
