This growing season is remembered for especially dry conditions with heat spikes in both July and August. The Castello di Querceto 1971 La Corte is flat in terms of its aromas with a combination of aldehydic and oxidative characteristics. The wine's age translates into dusty and bitter fruit, tree sap, charred earth, toasted cedar and mahogany. Made with Sangiovese from sandy soils, the wine's color has reverted to shades of amber and crimson.
