This is one of the only pure expressions of Sangiovese you will find along this stretch of the Tuscan Coast. It is also one of the best. The 2013 Cavaliere shows that telltale garnet color with dark amber highlights that is so characteristic of the grape variety. The bouquet is delicate and ethereal with cassis, wild berry and pretty balsam or herbal qualities. It is light in consistency and silky in texture. I have assigned a shorter drinking window, although my experience with past vintages of Cavaliere have shown that you could probably hold the bottle longer than that. It drinks nicely now, so why wait?
