Complex and distinctive is the 1998 Cavaliere, a 100% Sangiovese cuvee also aged one year in French oak. A deep ruby/purple color is accompanied by sumptuous aromas of espresso infused with blackberries, licorice, soy, and truffles. This long, layered, multidimensional Tuscan wine is extremely impressive. Why can't California come remotely close to producing Sangiovese of this quality? This beautiful 1998 can be drunk now or cellared for 10-12 years.
