Concentrated, and made in an opulent, Pomerol-like style is the 1997 Vigna Al Cavaliere. About 1,150 cases were produced of the 100% Sangiovese. A dark ruby color is accompanied by a fragrant bouquet of black fruits, smoke, toasty oak, and spice box. The wine is fleshy, luscious, low in acidity, and fat. With tremendous reserves of fruit, and a full-bodied, voluptuous texture, this plump, succulent 1997 lingers on the palate for more than 30 seconds. Drink it over the next 7-10 years.
