A flagship wine for the Villero cru in Castiglione Falletto, the 2009 Barolo Enrico VI is a delicious offering that is packed tight with dark fruit intensity and flavor. Earthy tones of underbrush and button mushroom are backed by blackberry, tobacco, leather and a playful touch of sweet cinnamon spice. The wine is opulent and sensual with soft fruit layers that act to cushion the power and structure that holds this beautiful tapestry together. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2035. In family hands since 1340 (spanning an amazing 19 generations), this is one of the oldest estates in Italy. Today, it is run by Giovanni Cordero di Montezemolo and his two children Elena and Alberto. The family owns 30 hectares, of which 28 are a single vineyard in the Annunziata cru of La Morra’s Monfalletto-Gattera hill.
