The 2003 Barolo Enrico VI, from the Villero vineyard in Castiglione Falletto, is very pretty and easily the most successful of these wines. It reveals notable freshness and vibrancy in its violets, spices, prunes, plums and sweet toasted oak, with the aromatics woven into a rich texture of sweet fruit. The tannins are big, but the wine has plenty of stuffing to provide balance. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2019.
