Another wine that showed especially well was the 2013 Pommard 1er Cru Les Fremiers, which Bouley aptly describes as "2008 but with the benefit of five years' experience." Unwinding with lovely aromas of plums, pomegranate, raw cocoa, sweet spices, orange oil and peonies, it's medium to full-bodied, seamless and complete, with velvety tannins, lively acids and a long, penetrating finish. Cropped at a paltry 13 hectoliters per hectare, only three barrels were produced. I wish I owned some!
