Aromas of plums, orange oil, smoke and spices (that are a touch more overtly oak-inflected than immediately preceding vintages) introduce the 2001 Pommard 1er Cru Les Fremiers, a medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy wine with a sumptuous attack, racy acids and powdery tannins that assert themselves on the finish, reminding us that this year was marked by hail.
