Aromas of orange peel, plums, smoked meats and sweet forest floor mingle in an earthy melange, introducing the 1998 Pommard 1er Cru Les Fremiers, a medium to full-bodied, velvety and lively wine that's ample and bright, with melting tannins and a pretty core of subtly degraded fruit. The challenging vintage makes itself felt, but this is still a very charming wine.
