Opening in the glass with notes of sweet berries, bitter orange, raw cocoa and new oak, the 2004 Pommard 1er Cru Les Fremiers is medium to full-bodied, ample and lively, with a touch of back-end asperity but little of the herbal notes that so frequently distinguish this vintage. Bouley says his Fremiers was hailed at veraison, and that he entirely destemmed the crop, passing it over a new vibrating shaker table to sort out as many damaged berries as possible.
