The 1996 Olmo's Reward (a blend of 42% Cabernet Franc, 30% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot) is an intensely aromatic, spicy, Bordeaux-inspired wine with a dusty, new oak, red and black currant-scented nose. As it sits in the glass, berry and cedar aromas emerge, along with some of the tell-tale earthiness. Medium-bodied, with decent acidity, moderate tannin, and a stylish, complex personality, this intriguing wine could easily pass for a top-class Bordeaux in a blind tasting.
