A blend of 62% Cabernet Franc, 17% Merlot, 16% Malbec and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2008 Olmo's Reward was fermented in French oak, 35% new, and aged in oak for 18 months. Very deep garnet-purple colored, it offers a wonderfully expressive nose of ripe red currants, black raspberries and mulberries over aromas of chocolate box, anise, Chinese five spice and a whiff of cedar. Full bodied and concentrated, it is nicely balanced in the mouth with crisp acidity providing lift to the richness and a medium to firm level of fine-grained tannins lending approachable yet age-worthy texture. The finish is long and layered. It's tempting to drink now but should improve with another 12 months in bottle, drinking to 2019+.
