The 1995 Olmo's Reward Proprietary Red is a blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Petit Verdot with Cabernet Franc (40%) representing the highest percentage of the component parts. The wine reveals a Rutherford, dusty character in the nose not dissimilar from some of the older BV Private Reserves. With its opaque purple color and sweet currant-scented nose intermixed with tobacco, dried herbs, and earth, this rich, medium-bodied, firmly-structured yet well-delineated wine is impressive for its elegance and richness. It can be drunk now as well as over the next 10-12 years. I expect the aromatics to become even more impressive as the wine ages in bottle.
