The unfined/unfiltered 1996 Chardonnay Damaris Reserve is fermented in 90% new oak, and spends 12 months in contact with its lees, with considerable stirring. This is a profoundly complex offering, with liquid minerals, roasted hazelnuts, buttered citrus, and orange blossom-like aromas and flavors. It is a full-bodied yet beautifully textured wine with good underlying acidity, and impressive length. I'm still drinking my 1995 Damaris Reserve, which continues to evolve and improve. The 1996 should continue to evolve for another 3-5 years.
