A capable winemaker, Eric Stern, along with California's most fashionable and influential consultant, Helen Turley, are combining to turn out some of California's most sumptuous and compelling Chardonnays. Even richer thant the Overlook, the 1994 Chardonnay Damaris Reserve is a blend of 57% Chardonnay fruit from Alexander Valley and the balance from Sonoma. Only 1,400 cases of this reasonably priced wine were made. It offers an intense aromatic nose, thick, honeyed, full-bodied, rich, concentrated fruit, an unctuous texture, enough acidity to provide vibrancy and delineation, and a blockbuster finish.
