The 2008 Barolo Prapo is a serious wine endowed with layers of expressive dark red fruit, smoke, iron and tar. There is plenty of Serralunga muscle and intensity in the glass. This is the most virile of the 2008s I tasted from Germano, and is the most likely to take the longest to come around. Mint, licorice, tar and smoke are some of the notes that add complexity on the finish. Although the Prapo is delicious, it isn't quite as complete as the Cerretta. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2028.
