The 2011 Barolo Parej shows full intensity and deep cherry flavors. The wine exhibits a strong focus on those cherry nuances that characterize both the bouquet and the taste profile of the mouthfeel. With time in the glass, the fruit nuances lose intensity making room instead for spice, balsam herb, toasted almond and white truffle. The depth and persistence of this Barolo are both impressive. Icardi's Barolo Parej is one of the good surprises to be found in the 2011 vintage. It ages in new oak for 36 months and the results are well managed and integrated.
