The 2006 Barolo Parej possesses that extra layer of muscle and gravitas that is the hallmark of Barolo. Broad shouldered and expansive, the Parej shows gorgeous depth and clarity in its dark red fruit, roses, tar, licorice and spices. The tannins are firm and present, but also nicely balanced by the intensity of the fruit. A beautiful, precise finish rounds things out nicely. This is a fabulous, harmonious Barolo from Icardi. Pure and focused, this red nonetheless remains tight, its cherry, eucalyptus, licorice and mineral flavors bound up with the firm, tensile structure. Shows nice sweetness midpalate, so give it at least two to three years to soften. Fine length.
