The entry-level red 2014 Barranc Dels Closos, a Garnacha-based blend with 30% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, revealed aromas of black fruit and hints of ink, tempera paint and leather. The palate showed abundant, slightly dusty tannins and a very dry finish. There are 50,000 bottles produced.

Supple and fresh, this lively red delivers bright flavors of cherry, blood orange, licorice and mountain herbs, structured more by vibrant acidity than the light tannins. Not muscular, but energetic.
