The 2004 Barranc dels Closos, composed of 80% Garnacha Negra and 20% Carinena, was aged for 3 months in French oak. Medium ruby-colored, it offers up aromas of scorched earth, mushroom, spice box, and cherry. Slightly lean on the palate but with attractive flavors, this is a wine in need of greater depth and breadth. Drink it over the next 2-3 years.
Only a tiny percentage of the wine produced in Priorat is white but they can be some of the most interesting white wines made in Spain.
