The 2008 Bolgheri Rosso Piastraia comes across as understated in this vintage. Raspberry jam, licorice, incense, spices and flowers emerge from this juicy, fragrant wine. Everything is simply in the right place. The 2008 possesses striking inner perfume and fabulous overall balance. Hints of smoke, tar and licorice develop in the glass, adding an element of darkness, but without obscuring the fruit. There is plenty of harmony in the 2008.
