Michele Satta’s 2006 Bolgheri Rosso Piastraia opens with enticing aromatics that lead to vibrant red fruit, roses, spices and menthol. There is a minerality that runs through the wine, lending both freshness and symmetry to the polished finish. This is gem from Satta. Piastraia is a blend of Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet and Syrah fermented in wood and aged in French oak. The wine was bottled unfined. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022.
