Cordero’s 2003 Barolo Gattera is spiced on the nose with dark fruit, leather, menthol and coffee bean nuances that emerge from the glass. Although it offers greater body than the Monfalletto, the oak treatment comes across as somewhat heavy-handed. This is a beautiful wine that will offer its finest drinking over the near term.
