The 2006 Barbaresco Vigneto Loreto is the richest and most textured of these three 2006 Barbarescos. Red cherries, plums, spices and new leather are woven together in a harmonious, inviting style. This is a relatively approachable Vigneto Loreto that should drink nicely upon release. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2018.
Proprietor Angelo Rocca makes some of the richest Barbarescos in town, but even he couldn't overcome the challenges of the 2006 vintage. His Barbarescos show excellent integrity of fruit and a refined use of oak, even if they don't quite reach the level of his finest wines.
