The 2003 Barbaresco Sori Loreto opens with a promising, aromatic nose. It is packed with sensations of super-ripe red fruit, menthol and minerals on a classically structured frame with big, imposing tannins that dominate the wine’s balance. A few years of cellaring may be beneficial but my impression is that the wine will always be dominated by its tannic structure. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2015.
