The dark-colored, structured, elegant 1998 Barolo Costa Grimaldi offers purity and harmony allied with power, density, and extract. While relatively seamless for such a young Einaudi Barolo, there is plenty of tannin underneath the glycerin and fruit. I suspect it is only a matter of time before the tannin asserts itself and closes the wine down. Rich and impressive, with no hard edges, it is built for the long haul.
