Pride Mountain has always done a top-notch job with their Viognier. Their 2015 Viognier has malolactic blocked and is aged six months in neutral French cooperage. It is a relatively large cuvée of 1,120 cases, and is one of California’s finest examples of Viognier. This is largely due to the fact that the fruit is beautifully pure, the wine has plenty of glycerin and textural impact (14.6% alcohol), and there’s no malolactic fermentation, which keeps the zesty acids present to give the wine an energized impact on the palate. Loads of lychee nut, orange marmalade, apricot and honeysuckle are found in this medium to full-bodied, beautifully pure, fresh wine. Drink it over the next 1-2 years.
