Showing an elaborate and sophisticated style, the 2012 Orvieto Classico Superiore Campo del Guardiano opens to warm tones of stone fruit, yellow rose and pine nut. The wine also delivers interesting tertiary aromas of butterscotch, caramel and candied fruit. This blend of Procanico, Grechetto and other grapes is made in stainless steel, but sees 18 months of bottle aging before its commercial release. The effect is soothing and enriching, especially on the palate where the wine offers a creamy, dense texture. A slight touch of sweetness characterizes the finish.
