The Còl(fā)petrone 2016 Montefalco Rosso is a blend of 70% Sangiovese, 15% Sagrantino and 15% Merlot from a warm and classic vintage. This wine shows a lot of dark cherry and plum, but the fruit remains dry, lively and bright throughout. The acidic Sangiovese grape does a great job against the more tannic Sagrantino and softer Merlot components of the blend. About 90,000 bottles were rolled out.

The 2014 Montefalco Rosso is 70% Sangiovese, 15% Sagrantino and 15% Merlot, all aged in barrique for 12 months. This is a bright and easy-drinking red wine that would wash down with pizza or simple meat and potato dishes. The wine offers lively fruit tones and bright acidity on the close with mild overall intensity.

The 2013 Montefalco Rosso is a dense and hearty red wine with ample structure and concentration. The wine is infused with pressed cherry, blackberry, Christmas spice and cured tobacco. Montefalco Rosso is usually made with a base of Sangiovese that is enhanced by a smaller percentage of the more tannic Sagrantino variety.

The 2011 Montefalco Rosso shows savory characteristics of cured meat and tobacco with dried fruit and prune. It’s packed tight with alcoholic power and thickly extracted density.
