Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Saint-Georges has a modest nose of black cherries, raspberry and a touch of bergamot tea. There seems to be some stem addition here, but if so, then it is neatly integrated. The palate is well balanced with supple and quite fine tannin, a keen line of acidity with satisfying tension. It has a modern veneer, especially on the sweet finish, yet there is good quality fruit in situ and it should age with style. Tasted September 2016.
