The 2004 Gigondas Romane Machotte is similarly styled, with pretty kirsch and dried berry fruit, licorice and underbrush aromas and flavors. Made from 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah and aged 12 months in equal parts older barrel and oak casks, it is medium-bodied, nicely balanced and fresh, with a solid finish that keeps you coming back to the glass. Enjoy it over the coming 3-4 years.
