The 2007 Barolo Bricco Luciani is one of the most beautiful wines I have tasted here in quite some time. Dark berries, flowers, minerals and spices are some of the nuances that emerge from this sexy, well-delineated Barolo. The 2007 possesses more depth than has been the norm over the recent past and also less new oak, a combination that has yielded a fabulous result. The wine’s inner perfume carries through gracefully to the long, silky finish. This is a hugely enjoyable Barolo from Grasso. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025.
As is typically the case, Grasso bottled his 2007s later than most of his colleagues, which meant I was only able to sample two Baroli from bottle.
