Readers looking for a Provencal offering that tastes like a Medoc should check out Mas des Bressades' 2000 Cabernet/Syrah (65% of the former and 35% of the latter). Although 45% of this cuvee sees new oak, it offers a Pauillac-like nose of cedar wood, tobacco, black currants, and vanillin. The wine is medium to full-bodied and ripe (the Cabernet achieved 14.3% alcohol naturally), with moderate tannin in the finish. It is a firm structured effort. While it should age and mature for a decade, I would recommend consumption over the next 3-4 years.Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC; tel. (202) 832-9083
