Aged in 100% new oak casks, the 1992 Cabernet Sauvignon (80%)/Syrah (20%) could compete with many a high class Bordeaux in a blind tasting. It boasts an opaque purple color, a reticent but promising bouquet of herbs, blackcurrants, spices, and well-integrated, toasty new oak. The wine is structured, with moderate tannin, and a sweet, medium to full-bodied, fleshy palate. Unevolved and not as precocious as the 1992 Syrah, it should be cellared for 1-2 years and drunk over the following decade. Wines of this quality usually sell for $20 or more a bottle! Are my ratings too conservative? This excellent estate has produced two super wines that merit buying by the case. Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC.
