Even with the weak American dollar pushing French wine prices up by 20% over the last several months, this wine remains a noteworthy value. Made from 60-year old Syrah and 30-year old Cabernet Sauvignon vines (the blend is 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Syrah), the 1993 Mas des Bressades is a dense, full-bodied, super-rich wine that is loaded with sweet cassis fruit. It offers an intriguing, spicy, peppery component, outstanding concentration, and impressive purity and harmony. Already delicious, it is capable of lasting for 4-5 years.Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC; tel. (202) 832-9083.
