Cavallotto's monopole vineyard, the famed Bricco Boschis Vigna San Giuseppe, produces a singularly-styled Barolo with incredible fruit, a layered texture, moderately high tannin, and an enormous follow through on the palate. It brilliantly marries finesse/elegance with unbridled power and concentration. Although it requires 3-4 years of cellaring to drop some tannin and develop more fully, it should be a spectacular 1998. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2020.
