The 2011 Barolo Ginestra is an expression of Nebbiolo from a warm vintage, with bold fruit aromas and a more simplistic overall presentation. The fruit layering is a bit thicker and heavier in this wine. Blackberry and ripe cherry segue to aromas of black licorice, tar and earthy truffle. Spicy wood tones are tucked in neatly at the back.

This red has immediate appeal, with cherry, strawberry, licorice and leather flavors. Harmonious and lively, this is open enough to enjoy now, but should improve over the next decade.
