The 2007 Barolo Liste is another imposing wine from Damilano. Here the tannins and overall structure are much more in evidence, in keeping with a vineyard that tends to yield powerful Baroli. Intense dark fruit, leather, licorice and spices are some of the notes that emerge from this super-ripe, opulent Barolo. This isn’t the most elegant wine in the lineup, but there appears to be more than enough fruit to keep up with the tannins. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025. Damilano’s 2007s Baroli are big, massive wines that appear to need several years in bottle. They have plenty of underlying structure, and while ripe, they are also well balanced.
