The 2004 Barolo Liste is the most powerful and deep of the estate’s Barolos. This is another wine where concentration has been achieved in the cellar rather than in the vineyard. A massive, powerful wine, the Liste reveals a core of dark cherry fruit, with imposing structure and hard, astringent tannins. The Liste was aged for 16 months in French oak (50% new) followed by a year in steel prior to being bottled. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2019. Importer: Vias Imports, New York, NY; tel. Minted cherry nose. Supple, but hefty tannins kick in, spicy but also ungainly, not sure they will melt with time. Dry finish.

Liste (a vineyard cru near Cannubi and Brunate) provides the fruit for this top wine from Damilano. The results are plush and modern and enriched by aromas of coffee, allspice, black licorice, road tar and black fruit Cherry flavors flood the mouth and are followed by a sensation of tonic freshness.
