A revelation for a Chardonnay that is 14 years of age, Talley’s 1997 Rosemary’s Vineyard is aging far better than most white Burgundies of a similar age. Its light straw color is followed by beautiful aromas of green apple skin, orange rind and citrus oil and a full-bodied, surprisingly intensely fruity wine offering flavors of honeysuckle, quince and crushed rocks. This complex, French-styled effort is an amazing achievement in this vintage. I would never have dreamed it would last this long and mature so beautifully. Drink it over the next 4-5 years.
