The Casanuova delle Cerbaie 2018 Brunello di Montalcino opens to a rusty or metallic-mineral note that recalls iron ore or pencil shaving. That dark side of the wine complements blackcurrant and dried blackberry. Additionally, there is a balsamic side to the wine with rosemary essence, cola and medicinal herb. It finishes with soft intensity and an accessible, mid-weight texture. Fruit is sourced over 10 hectares with rocky galestro and calcareous soils at 350 meters in elevation. Exactly 23,482 bottles were made.

The Casanuova delle Cerbaie 2017 Brunello di Montalcino is characterized by an immediate and open-knit bouquet that hints at some of the heat and dryness of the vintage. This wine can be enjoyed straight out of the gate. In fact, I wouldn't recommend that you hold onto the bottle for too long. Ripe cherry and blackcurrant segue to dry spice, stemmy tannins and a short finish. Production is 26,000 bottles.

The Casanuova delle Cerbaie 2015 Brunello di Montalcino pours from the bottle with a dark garnet color and browning sepia highlights. Well suited for a finely executed risotto of porcini or morels, this wine presents traditional Brunello aromas of dried fruit, wild cherry, crushed rose, potting soil and dark spice. Some 28,000 bottles were released.
