The 2008 Brunello di Montalcino shows good depth and fine textural balance. A subtle, understated wine, the 2008 impresses most for its sense of proportion. Sweet, dried cherries, pipe tobacco, cedar, spices and crushed flowers waft from the glass as this ethereal, feminine Brunello shows off its class. The style is quite delicate and at times a bit fleeting. I imagine the 2008 will offer its best drinking sooner rather than later. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2020.
