The 2009 Agusti Torello Mata Brut Nature Gran Reserva produced with Macabeo, Xarello and Parellada grapes is just a step above in lees and yeast aromas compared with the Reserva, showing the extended lees contact of around three years. Both nose and palate are more subtle, with better integration of the bubbles, clean flavors of apple tart, fennel and aniseed. A very pleasant, textbook Cava. Drink now-2016.
Agusti Torello produces 500,000 bottles per year, and they all have a disgorging date on them. You will find three still Xarello whites from them in Penedes.
