The brilliant 1992 was macerated for more than five weeks (talk about extended cuvaisons). This prodigious wine exhibits a dense color, and super-rich, jammy, black-cherry, and cassis fruit intertwined with toasty new oak (100% new oak casks are used). The wine is full-bodied, with layers of flavor, a sweet mid-palate, and a long, rich, well-defined finish. Approachable now, it promises to be even better in 4-5 years and will last for up to 2 decades. Given the fact that three of Spain's hottest new wines have emanated from the steep, terraced hillsides of Priorto - Clos Mogador, Clos d'Orlac, and now Clos Erasmus - it is only a matter of time before the world's wine connoisseurs begin beating a path to this remote, rugged region of northeastern Spain.
